Louis G. Cornacchia, M.D, FAANS, F.A.C.S.

Dr. Louis G. Cornacchia is a neurosurgeon, Columbia College, NYU School of
Medicine, and a neurosurgical residency at the UCSD. He completed an in-residence joint orthopedic / neurosurgical spine fellowship. Since completing residency, he has practiced neurosurgery in Long Island, Queens, and Brooklyn for over twenty-five years in various positions. He has been Chief of Neurosurgery at Mercy Medical Center, Hempstead General Medical Center, and Brookdale University Medical Center. He was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at New York-Presbyterian Cornell from 2009, then Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery until 2018. He as served as a staff neurosurgeon at NY Presbyterian Queens and Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Weill-Cornell Medical center. He was the founder of NYNNA and more recently, Apteum Spine. He is the author of numerous neurosurgery and neuroscience research articles and almost two dozen patents. His clinical focus is improving outcomes in complex spine neurosurgery, and his research focuses on improving the safety and outcomes of surgery by improving surgical ergonomics and healthcare delivery. His current focus is in the study and treatment of patients who have failed surgery and continue to have debilitated back pain (aka Failed Back Syndrome patients.)
