Precise planning.
A decision built around you.

Robotic guidance can assist implant placement. A careful evaluation determines whether surgery—and this approach—fits your condition.

Diagnosis before a treatment decision

A careful review before a surgical decision.

Review your symptoms, imaging and treatment history with Dr. Cornacchia. Discuss nonsurgical options, surgical alternatives and the role of robotic navigation in your specific plan.

01 · REVIEW

Bring your imaging

Bring available spine MRI, CT, X-rays and prior operative reports.

02 · COMPARE

Discuss the alternatives

Review previous care, nonsurgical options, expected benefits, limitations and risks.

03 · DECIDE

Choose the appropriate next step

Surgery is discussed when symptoms, examination and imaging support it. No outcome is guaranteed.

Experience & careful judgment

Meet Dr. Cornacchia.

Louis G. Cornacchia III, M.D., FAANS, FACS

A board-certified neurosurgeon with 30 years of spinal cord stimulation experience.

More about Dr. Cornacchia’s experience and SCS device decisions

Spinal cord stimulation experience

Experienced neurosurgical judgment before device decisions.

A spinal cord stimulator is a medical device decision, but it is also a diagnosis decision. Apteum’s evaluation is designed to clarify whether SCS is reasonable, whether another spine problem needs attention, and what goals should define success for you.

He works with a community of experienced pain-management doctors and with Medtronic, Boston Scientific, and other manufacturers.

Manufacturer relationships do not imply endorsement of a specific device for every patient. Brand and system selection should be based on clinical need, anatomy, MRI considerations, programming goals, prior device history, and shared decision-making.

Your evaluation focuses on your diagnosis, prior care and goals. Discuss the expected benefits, limitations, risks and alternatives before choosing your next step. An evaluation is not a commitment to surgery or an implant.

Robotic Surgery

Robotic Surgery

Robotic guidance for transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) and other selected spine procedures.

Overview

Our robotic spine surgery program uses image-guided planning and navigation to assist implant placement during selected spine procedures. The appropriate approach depends on the diagnosis, anatomy, treatment goals and surgical risks.

What We Offer

Robotic-assisted TLIF procedures
Robotic pedicle screw placement
Computer-navigated spine surgery
3D surgical planning
Real-time intraoperative imaging

Key Benefits

Enhanced surgical precision with robotic guidance
Smaller incisions and reduced tissue damage
Potential for a shorter recovery in selected patients
Outcomes depend on the condition, procedure and individual recovery

What Is Robotic Spine Surgery?

Robotic-assisted spine surgery brings a new level of precision to procedures that once relied on the surgeon’s hand and eye alone. At Apteum Spine, Dr. Louis G. Cornacchia III uses the Globus ExcelsiusGPS platform to plan and place implants with image-guided accuracy — combined with minimally invasive techniques designed to reduce tissue disruption and support a faster recovery when appropriate.
Using your pre-operative imaging, the system creates a 3D surgical plan. During surgery, robotic guidance and real-time navigation help place screws and implants along the planned trajectory with high precision, through smaller incisions than traditional open surgery.

Potential Benefits (when clinically appropriate)

• Greater accuracy in implant placement
• Smaller incisions and less muscle disruption
• Reduced blood loss
• Potential for shorter recovery and hospital stay

Technology alone does not create good outcomes. Experience, judgment, and careful patient selection remain essential—which is why every case is evaluated individually.

Conditions Often Treated

Degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, deformity, and cases requiring spinal fusion or instrumentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is robotic surgery safer?

It is designed to improve precision; the right approach still depends on your specific condition and is determined after a full evaluation

Is everyone a candidate?

No — candidacy is determined after a thorough review of your imaging, symptoms, and history.
